PROFHILO

Aftercare involves:

– Avoiding alcohol and aspirin, which could cause bruising, for 48 hours
– Avoiding extreme temperatures/treatments, which can lead to swelling, for 2 weeks
– Avoiding make-up in the first 12 hours
– Avoiding vigorous exercise for 48 hours
– Protecting the skin from the sun, as it may be sensitive (which we think should be done every day, regardless!). This could include covering exposed areas, seeking shade when the sun is at its hottest and using a daily sun care product of SPF30 or higher.

DERMAL FILLERS

Recommendations prior to treatment:
To help avoid bruising it is advisable not to take aspirin or anti–inflammatory medications (unless already being prescribed by a physician) for one week prior to treatment.

Dermal fillers will not be injected if:
You are taking anticoagulants
You have an active skin infection
An outbreak of cold sores around the mouth
Known allergy to a previous dermal filler
Known allergy to Lidocaine or contraindications to its use
During pregnancy and breastfeeding
Untreated epilepsy or any contraindications medically
Before two weeks following aesthetic facial treatments (laser, peels etc.)

Your comfort is our top priority:
To minimise any discomfort a topical numbing cream can be applied to your skin before any treatments. This may not be needed as nearly all dermal fillers now contain a small amount of Lidocaine, a very quick and effective local anaesthetic.

Post Treatment Advice

Filler can slightly mobile for a few hours following the procedure so do not rub or massage the area for the rest of the day as this can increase the risk of infection.
Immediately after treatment it is quite normal for there to be slight redness, swelling and tenderness around the treated area. These signs will gradually disappear in a few days. Wash and dry your face with gentle patting movements. It is possible that you may be able to feel or see where the product has been places for about two weeks following treatment. As the filler gradually incorporate into the matrix of your skin, these signs will lessen. If you have stronger, more uplifting filler, it is possible that the filler will be palpable for longer. Please avoid the use of makeup for the rest of the day to prevent the introduction of infections to the injection sites. Do not have facial beauty treatments or massage for two weeks following treatment and avoid exposure to strong sunlight, very cold temperatures, saunas and solariums for the same length of time.

-Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in strenuous exercise, as it may result in additional bruising.
-Avoid the use of aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs as these may increase the risk of bruising.
Lip treatment generally may develop later and takes a little longer to settle and may feel tender and appear uneven this will gradually resolve itself within the first week and will not affect the final result.
-Although your treatment result is immediate the overall result will look much better in about two weeks when any trauma has subsided and the plumping/hydrating effect of the product has really starter to take effect.

There is a chance of bruising with filler treatments, caused both through the injection and sometimes the pressure of the product on capillaries under the skin. Bruising may be apparent at the time of treatment or may develop later and may be anything from more mild, moderate or occasionally heavy. This is an unfortunate side effect of filler treatments. Bruising will subside in time and the use of arnica cream can sometimes be helpful.

Duration of treatment
30 -60 minutes including anaesthetic numbing time.
Recovery time
Very little with mild swelling and possibly mild bruising.
Results
Smoothes out lines and wrinkles, improves volume in the lips and cheeks and lifts the face.

Sweating
Exercising
Hot baths, showers, saunas or hot tubs
Scrubbing, picking or rubbing the skin which could lead to scarring
Retinol or AHA products for at least 10 days
You must use an SPF 45+ daily to protect the skin from direct sunlight for a minimum of three days yet it would be advisable to continue to use for the next six months.
